For Individuals, Families or Groups on the Iveragh Peninsula.
The Hostel is open to groups all year round, and individuals from April 1st to October 31st. There are many natural walks in the area including the Kerry Way which passes just a mile from the hostel. There is also a state of the art sports hall adjoining the hostel making it ideal for school and youth groups. We also are situated within the core area of the Kerry International Dark Sky Reserve.

This beautiful part of South West Ireland is the perfect location for activity-based breaks. Together with our Activities Partners, our hostel is the ideal base from which to explore South Kerry’s rich heritage and experience many outdoor and water-based activities: from hillwalking to kayaking, from fishing to archaeology.

They... read more have a shared kitchen and common area for eating. It's about 15 minutes from the town of Waterville which has everything you need. We stayed here the night before our trip out to Skellig Michael and it was about a half hour to get to Portmagee. I would definitely recommend Dromid Hostel for people looking for a great value. Beds very comfortable as well.

When I told Kathy in advance about our plans she promptly set aside 2 family rooms for us (for both nights of our stay). But wow! I wasn't expecting the friendliness! Tom greeted us with absolute joy and a desire to make every part of our stay pleasant. When foul weather delayed our boat ride to Skellig Islands, they arranged a taxi. And they provided a large, fantastic "living room" type space for our leadership discussions. Loved this place and would promptly return.

It also allowed us to organise a trip out to 'scellig mhichíl' which we loved. The staff advised us on how to organise the trip out there ie booking the boats etc... which was very helpful indeed.
Overall we found that the value for money was great and the service was wonderful

And the owners helped us with every aspect of our stay - they even took all our laundry and had it done the same day. Eagerly looking forward to returning...

15 July 2017marymyersirelandexcellent location just off the Kerry Way - after my trek from Glenbeigh i was greeted by friendly staff and shown my ensuite room which was clean, fresh and airy. i relaxed in their comfortable sitting room before... read more preparing my evening meal. the manager Cáit advised me on my next day walk on the Kerry Way and what exact route to take. after my restful sleep i awoke to the singing of the birds and the beautiful views of the peaceful countryside.
i will definately be back and would recommend it to anyone who just want to "get away from it all" even for a short break. thank you Cáit
18 July 2016macharrHidden gem - Best hostel I've ever stayed in! - was doing the Kerry Way, 2 families - 3 adults, 5 children , walking over 13km per day - on day 3 we... read more came across the sign for the hostel - what a find! - we phoned, they had spaces, and were collected from Mastergeeha post office and brought to this oasis - spotlessly clean, well equipped kitchen, homely, fab sitting room with amazing views, but most of all and the best thing about the place was the lovely staff, I can't remember all their names - Maura, Jimmy were 2 and they were soooo helpful. Nothing was to much trouble for them - they were extremely kind, helpful, proud of the set up and went out of their way to ensure that while the wind and rain took from the enjoyment of the walk this place made up for it in spades We're already planning and scheming to go back again next year and include the hidden gem along the way.
